This is a classic, easy halloween recipe made vegan. Jalapeno poppers are filled with seasoned cheese and wrapped in dough to make them look like mini mummies. Perfect for teenage or adult guests!

Needed Kitchenware: Parchment paper, baking pan, oven

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Roll the crescent rolls and separate into 4 rectangles with a perforation in the middle of each. Press your fingers into the perforations to seal them. Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut each rectangle into 10 long pieces lengthwise.
  • Combine the cheeses and dried seasoning together in a small bowl.
  • Put on some gloves to protect your hands and cut each jalapeño pepper lengthwise trying to keep the stem intact for each half buy cutting through the stem as well. Take out the rind and seeds. Fill each pepper half with the mixture and wrap each pepper with a dough strip. Leave room for the eyeballs and try to criss-cross the strip when wrapping to give it a real mummy feel. Refer to the picture for help on this step, it's all in the styling!
  • Place each wrapped pepper on the baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. When done, press the eyes into the cheese and serve warm.

If you want a fake bacon added, dice sun dried tomatoes and combine into the cheese mixture before stuffing.

You can certainly garnish with sliced scallions or green onions! You can certainly subtitute the cheeses from your favorite company and subtitute the white pepper for black.

Candy eyeballs can be purchased online or at a local craft retailer.

For a healthier option, you can use your own pizza dough recipe in place of the rolls.
