Ingredients & Directions

Recipe Ingredients

Ingredients

Yield: 2 Caramelized Apple Burgers (2 Servings)
Needed Kitchenware: Cooking pan with cover
  • 2 plant-based burgers patties (I used Gardein Ultimate Plant-Based Burger)
  • 2 slices plant-based cheese
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • salt, to taste
  • ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 medium onions, sliced thin
  • ¼ cup apple brandy
  • 1 honey crisp apple, peeled and sliced thin
  • 2 tbsp plant-based mayonnaise
  • 2 burger buns
  • (optional) micro beets
Recipe Directions

Directions

  • In a large cooking pan, over medium-high heat, add the olive oil. When the oil is hot, add the onions. Lightly season with salt and ground black pepper, to taste, and briefly stir to combine.
  • Cook until the onion is soft and caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • To the same pan, add the olive oil and cook your burgers according to package instructions. Lower the heat. Place a cheese slice on each patty and cover to allow the cheese to melt.
  • Once the cheese has melted, remove the burgers from the pan and set aside.
  • Deglaze the hot pan with ¼ cup of apple brandy and add your apples. Cook until all liquid is absorbed and the apples have slightly broken down.
  • Assemble your burgers by spreading the vegan mayonnaise on the burger buns. Add the burger, onion, apple, and micro beets, if using. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
Notes

Substitutions: If you cannot find honey crisp apples, use pink lady, ambrosia, or jazz apples.
