Super addicting, unique, and can be used in a variety of dishes! This kalamata olive pesto can be used with pasta or as a tapenade for appetizers.

Yield: Kalamata Olive Pesto & Tapenade (10 Servings)
Needed Kitchenware: Blender
  • 100 ml (a little less than ½ cup) extra virgin olive oil
  • 150 g kalamata black olives
  • 50 g hemp seeds, hulled
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 2 black garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 splash of orange juice
  • ½ tsp orange zest
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp rosemary
  • ½ tsp ground coriander seed
  • handful of fresh basil
Recipe Directions


  • Blend all the ingredients until you have a lumpy vinaigrette. Enjoy!

You can substitute white garlic cloves for the black if you cannot find it. You can also use fermented black garlic cloves though the taste will change.

The pesto was used in a pasta dish as shown in the photo: served with red lentil pasta with cherry tomatoes, arugula, and homemade almond cottage cheese.
