When it comes to BBQ jackfruit, I'm still yet to meet someone who doesn't like it. Combine this BBQ jackfruit recipe in a burger with your favorite toppings.

Yield: BBQ Jackfruit Burger Filling (2 Servings)
Needed Kitchenware: Mixing bowl, cooking pan
  • 1 400g can of young green jackfruit in water
  • ¼ cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tsp olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 tbsp paprika powder
  • ½ tbsp coconut sugar or brown sugar
  • ½ tsp chili powder or cayenne powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp sea salt

Directions

  • Drain the jackfruit and break it apart into pieces using the back of a fork until its shredded.
  • In a bowl combine all the spices.
  • Heat a pan on medium heat and add the oil.
  • Once the pan is hot, add the jackfruit and spices, combine well. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add the BBQ sauce and combine well. Cook for another 5 minutes or until jackfruit is warm throughout.
  • I like to serve it with some oven baked pineapple slices, fresh veg, sprouts and homemade slaw. Combine raw thinly sliced purple cabbage with, sesame seeds, fresh lime juice, and for extra taste, you can add sesame oil, mix well. Add some avocado to the top and bottom of the bun and enjoy!
