I love anything crispy, especially when I crave something Salty 🤪 So I recently made these vegan chick'n as a healthy crispy snack for my family and myself and it was a huge hit! These shockingly turned out so delicious!

Yield: Crispy Mushroom Chick'n (3 Servings)
Needed Kitchenware: Mixing bowls, air fryer
  • ½ lb oyster mushrooms
  • ⅓ cup + 1 tbsp self-rising flour
  • 2 heaping tbsp rice flour
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp Korean spice mix, jerk seasoning, or other mix to your preference
  • ½ cup + 2 tbsp water
  • salt, to taste
  • ½ cup panko bread crumbs with fine texture
  • 10 Avocado oil sprays
Recipe Directions


  • Carefully wash and dry oyster mushrooms with a clean kitchen towel. Drain out excess water. Then carefully break into bite size pieces. Set aside.
  • In a bowl, prepare your batter by mixing together the flour, rice flour, corn starch, garlic powder, chili powder, spice mix, water, and salt. Mix nicely. In another bowl place the bread crumbs.
  • Now dip each mushroom one by one into batter and then into bread crumbs. Line them carefully on an air fryer tray or baking tray. Spray with avocado oil 5 times on top layer and air fry at 400°F or 200°C for about 15-18 minutes. Make sure to flip half way through, spray with avocado oil again on the other side, and continue air frying. Once done serve it with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!

Substitutions: If you do not have self-rising flour, use same amount of all-purpose or whole wheat flour and add ½ teaspoon baking powder.

Substitutions: If you do not have fine panko breadcrumbs, run your coarse crumbs through a food processor until they get smaller.
